Clients consider relationship & family counseling for a range of reasons.
Maybe you want to tune up your communication experiences, improve your sexual & intimate lives or tackle more complex issues to progress through an impasse. Often couples and families present for therapy when their situation becomes a crisis. There is no shame or judgement for where you find yourself, and I commend you for acknowledging your reality and reaching out for help.
I work with partners navigating the myriad of experiences under the non-monogamy (ENM) umbrella. I assist queer-identified couples with life-planning and their intimate lives. I help families address and confront roadblocks. Many family clients come for help in communicating and unifying the family system when their LGBTQ+ child or parent comes out. I pay special attention to experiences around trauma and mental illness where applicable.
Whereas I am here to work with you on your relationship(s), I see partners and family members as individuals. This means that my success is in ensuring each individual is seen and heard in our work. I am committed to your well-being rather than a short-term fix.
For the first part of therapy I hold both individual and conjoint sessions. Ultimately the goal is to work with everybody together, but without an enriched understanding of the individuals involved, I can't deliver the most attuned or safe experience for everybody.
Please feel free to reach out and talk whether you wish to start immediately or you are just beginning your research for the future.
